Who is eligible to participate in a PECO In-Home Energy Assessment or In-Home Energy Audit?
All PECO residential electric customers are eligible to receive an assessment. You must be a PECO electric heat customer and/or have central air conditioning to be eligible for an audit.
When can I schedule an assessment or audit?
For your convenience, appointments are available Monday through Friday. Assessments typically take between one to two hours to complete and audits typically take between three to four hours. Who will perform the assessment or audit?
PECO’s partner CLEAResult performs all assessments and audits. To help you verify that the CLEAResult employees are working with PECO, they will have PECO business cards, PECO shirts and PECO identification badges and arrive in a PECO-branded vehicle.
How much does the assessment or audit cost?
A $150 value, the assessment costs PECO electric customers just $49. A $300 value, the audit costs PECO electric heat customers just $99.
How do I pay for my assessment or audit?
You can pay by credit card when speaking with a Smart Ideas Customer Service Representative at 1-888-5-PECO-SAVE (1-888-573-2672) between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Or you can pay by check or money order through the mail, but note that PECO must wait for the check to clear, which can take up to two weeks, before scheduling the assessment or audit.
After I complete an audit, are there additional rebates that I may be eligible for?
Yes, based on your audit, you may be eligible for rebates up to $1,150:
- Air sealing: $100 - $300
- Attic/ceiling insulation: 10¢ - 20¢ per square foot
- Wall insulation: 5¢ - 20¢ per square foot
- Duct sealing: $50 - $125
Who will perform the energy efficiency improvements for me?
You can select from our list of qualified participating contractors to complete the improvements recommended by your energy advisor.
How much will the additional improvements cost me?
The prices will vary depending on the additional work recommended for your home.
Should I contact several participating contractors to compare prices?
This program has set pricing agreed to by all of our participating contractors, so you don’t have to waste time comparing costs.
How long do I have to decide about proceeding with the recommendations?
Rebate offers are valid for 90 days from the date of the audit.
What are the qualifications of the energy advisors and participating contractors?
PECO energy advisors are experienced in residential energy conservation, construction and building diagnostics, and have been trained to Building Performance Institute (BPI) standards. Most are either certified by BPI and/or the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET). Participating contractors are professional contractors licensed in Pennsylvania and have provided references, qualifications and evidence of insurance.
Who is responsible for the work and products I buy?
Warranties for products you purchase as a result of the audit will be provided by their manufacturer. Warranties on workmanship are provided by the contractor you select.

Why is PECO offering these programs?
As part of the Pennsylvania Act 129 program, PECO is required to reduce the overall electric consumption of its customers by five percent during the next five years. To achieve that goal, the Public Utility Commission (PUC) approved a PECO plan that created several energy efficiency programs, including In-Home Energy Assessments and In-Home Energy Audits.
How long will PECO offer these programs?
Programs are currently available through May 31, 2021. However, funds are limited, and programs may be changed or terminated, so act today. Rules and rebates may change and funds are subject to availability.
How do I determine if I am a PECO residential electric heat customer?
You are a PECO residential heat customer if you have an electric heat pump, electric furnace or electric baseboard as your main source of heat.
Is the assessment or audit fee refundable?
Yes, if the appointment is cancelled prior to the scheduled visit. Please notify PECO at least 24 hours prior to your appointment by calling 1-888-5-PECO-SAVE (1-888-573-2672) between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Can I cancel the work planned with a contractor if I change my mind?
The participating contractors are independent businesses who contract with you directly. Your contractor will have their own policies and all work will be subject to your agreement, so you should discuss policies before signing an agreement. PECO is not involved with your selection of a contractor or your agreement with your selected contractor.
